Vintage Glass Beaker Recipe Cocktail Mixer with Glass Stir Vintage art deco cocktail mixer. Measures 12 and 1/8 inches tall to the top of the rim. The glass stir is 12 and 3/4 inches long. Has 8 cocktail recipes: Side Car, Havana Club, Martini, Bronx, Highland Fling, Manhattan, Applejack, and Daiquiri. The footed base has a black silk screened band around the rim.

The drinks use Havana Club Rum (made in Cuba), Bacardi Rum, and Martini & Rossi Italian Vermouth; which makes us believe that this mixer dates to some time between 1940 and 1959 (when Cuba became closed to US trade). From the history of Bacardi: "The 1940s brought several milestones for Bacardi, both in expansion and brand recognition. Much of the company's U.S. business had begun through word-of-mouth praise from visitors to the Caribbean, especially those flying Pan American Airways, which used Bacardi in some of its ads, "Fly Pan Am to Cuba and you can be bathing in Bacardi in hours. To capitalize on Bacardi's growing reputation and enhance its brand at the same time, Enrique and Jose initiated advertising on Bacardi's excellent qualities as a mixer. Two of the more popular variations developed were the Daiquiri, named after a Cuban village where an American mining engineer mixed Bacardi, crushed ice, and lime juice in 1896 and the Cuba Libre or Rum & Coke, created by an American army lieutenant in honor of Cuba's new independence. The latter concoction gained widespread attention when the Andrews Sisters made "Rum & Coca-Cola" a hit in 1944."

This Cocktail mixer is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or flakes. There is a few spots of wear to the silk screen recipes and on the black rim. There are a few ligth scratches to the bottom. This an attractive vintage cocktail mixer to display and use, a nice piece of history and a great addition to any vintage cocktail shaker collection SOLD
